Chapter 68: This is Your Body

Last Saturday, we were having an ice breaker in the youth ministry; it is to use the fun clay and make some shapes.

When we were doing the shapes, I noticed that my youth were having a lot of fun. I could see their happy expression and their excited voice,

“Ha ha ha… This is our dog?!”
“For an elephant, you make the hands, you make the legs, you make the body, and I will make the head.”

Is this a fish? Horror Movie!

“Hey! The eyes of the fish are dropping out! How can the fin be like that? Wow! Mouth so big?”

There were much laughter in the game, and I could feel the joy in them. I felt very happy when they were having a good fellowship. They kept on redoing the body parts when they found that it was inappropriate. As they started to make faces, I started to think the creation of God – human.

Our creation of Face, Dog and Elephant

Genesis 1:27, 2:7
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them… The LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

We used fun clay to make shapes; God used dust to form the first human. Isn’t it quite similar? When we were making the shapes, we were full of excitement and enthusiasm. I wonder when God first made man, how did He feel? I believe God must be very happy and excited about his first human creation.

When we made the shapes, it looked awkward. However, take a look at ourselves.

What a wonderful design of God!!

With everything which is so systematic and functional, inside and outside of the body, no one can ever make this wonderful creation except God.

All of us were given a body. God wants us to cherish our own body. Take good care of it. Your body is unique because it belongs to you alone. Do not do stupid things to hurt your body (e.g. cutting yourself, eating drug…etc). Do not use your body to sin (e.g. fighting, murdering…etc). If you love God, you will love his creation. Nevertheless, you will love your own body as well.

Into the potter's hand, I give my life

Readers, appreciate God’s gift in your life -

This is Your Body.

Be healthy and strong at all times. Remember Jesus Christ loves us; He has redeemed us.
We ought to love ourselves including our body.
Honor God with our body.

1 Corinthians 6:20
“you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
